UPCOMING:

EV Master Board          Meeting: Thursday,         Oct. 11th  at 10am

Amazing Stats:   UPDATED: September 18, 2018

Did you know the body of a tilapia is .008% phosphorus and .02% nitrogen? To date, 11,200 pounds of breeding tilapia have been harvested from our lakes. The cost to remove the 89.6 pounds of phosphorus and 224 pounds of nitrogen by other means would have been $300 per pound for phosphorus and $150-200 per pound for nitrogen. By harvesting tilapia, EVMA has removed $60,480 - $71,680 of nutrients from the ponds at NO cost.

UPDATE Caldwell Trust Expansion at the corner of Center Road and East Village Drive.

SEPTEMBER 20TH AT 5:00 PM AT THE COUNTY ANDERSON BUILDING AT 4000 TAMIAMI TRAIL VENICE FLORIDA

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend the hearing above regarding the rezone application of the Caldwell Trust property at the corner of E. Village Drive and Center Road.  The hearing is to consider a zoning change to allow approximately 85,000 square feet of office buildings to be erected on the Caldwell Trust property.

We fully understand the right of Caldwell Trust Company to develop their property; however, here are concerns that affect the East Village Communities:

 The egress onto East Village drive;

The high traffic volume on the weekends that exists going through the intersection at Center and E. Village Dr. will dramatically increase your risk of injury  traveling through that intersection.  Please remember we have had Bay flights at the location transporting victims to trauma centers, and many accidents as a result of no traffic control light at that intersection;

 Take it from someone who has been in law enforcement for twenty five years, when you get hit broadside at 45mph you're going to get seriously hurt and maybe not walk away from the collision.

During the last Christmas Holiday, Our Lady of Lourdes had 5900 church visitors in one day, which caused one accident with serious injuries.  This needs to stop.

Property Devaluation

We are all aware of the new Hospital complex going up not far from here, which will bring the need for additional medical office space.  The Caldwell proposal calls for a two story office building at the corner of Center Rd. and E. Village Dr.  plus three more one story office buildings.  We all know what that is going to mean to our property evaluation.  Make no mistake, this will reduce property value, and will cause people to leave our communities.

Please remember the County is entrusted with our safety and welfare and only the County can reduce this high risk.  We are not only concerned about our residents,  but also the children who go to the Christian School and play in the sports field at East Village Drive and Center Road. The explosion of construction of new homes on Center Rd. and River Rd. will only add to the traffic congestion.

There may be one chance at improving this scenario, and that is by getting involved, your property values and the tranquil way of life in East Village is at stake.    Please keep in mind we have collected over a thousand signatures in support of traffic control,  don't let these people down who collected the signatures and those who gave their signatures.  Let's fill the 166 seat hall and let the Planning Board know of our concerns.  If you cannot be at this hearing, you may also write the Planning Board of your concerns and it will be included in the application that goes to the County Commissioner's Hearing on this matter.

    SEPTEMBER 20th AT 5:00 PM AT THE COUNTY ANDERSON BUILDING AT 4000 TAMIAMI TRAIL VENICE

Best Regards
